More than 25 years guarantee the trajectory of this guitar orchestra considered one of the pioneers in the world and recognized as one of the best today. The Barcelona Guitar Orchestra performs works from baroque to contemporary composers, although it is specialized in Spanish music.

Its founder and director Sergi Vicente began a pedagogical experience that, over time, became a great professional project, being a pioneer in its genre and consolidating itself as a reference for all rear guitar orchestras. This original orchestral formation, the result of constant research, adaptation and interpretation work, has performed more than 700 performances, interpreting a wide repertoire that includes works by composers from all periods of music history.

During these years, more than 150 guitarists of numerous nationalities have formed part of the Orchestra. Some have developed a brilliant career as soloists and several of them have been selected to be part of the European Guitar and Mandolin Youth Orchestra along with other musicians from all European countries.

In addition to playing in the most prestigious venues and participating in the most relevant festivals in Spain, the Orchestra has always maintained international recognition and intense activity: in 2000 it participated in the Havana International Guitar Festival, in 2003 it toured different cities in Russia, and in 2009 and 2011 he successfully completed two tours in the US. His performances in Rome, Paris and Vienna and his participation in the Mediterranean Music Festival in 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014 are also noteworthy. and 2018.

On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, a CD and DVD were released with great commercial success, and in 2009 Maestro Leo Brouwer personally conducted the Orchestra at the Barcelona Auditorium. It was recorded live on TV3 and the dissemination of this audiovisual material is an internationally recognized benchmark for all guitar groups in the world.
